Elegy of Fate:Prologue is a free role-playing game for PC coming from developer Millidia. It's an MMORPG set in a fantasy world wherein players take on the role of resurrected heroes. They will draw upon the power of an almighty goddess as they battle enemies and prepare for the apocalypse.

Similar to Tarisland or Revelation Online, Elegy of Fate:Prologue features a wide selection of character classes and utilizes a party-based system that allows for different playstyles and tactics in combat. Players can try this preview out in preparation for the full game that will be released on May 15, 2024.

Heroes reborn

Elegy of Fate:Prologue takes place in the legendary realm of Eusyad, a mystical place where all souls converge. You wake up to find you've been mysteriously resurrected after dying in your own world. After picking up a sealed ring with the powers of the Goddess Ulandia, you gain the ability to summon souls to fight enemies. Thus begins your journey as a hero to save the continent from all kinds of monstrosities and the coming of the apocalypse.

The game boasts a large map with multiple biomes and each time you enter a new area, you get a set of cards that dictate your fate. Lead a party of heroes in battle using an Iron Triangle System wherein you will assign specific roles such as a tank, healer, and damage-dealer. You can actively switch controlling one character and the rest will be AI-controlled.

Explore its extensive skill tree to find a playstyle that suits you. You'll also encounter various platforming and environmental puzzles you need to solve using a "photonic system" to progress. All that said, there are plenty of things that Elegy of Fate:Prologue still needs to work on, such as its cluttered and confusing UI. Also, it has multiple game balance issues that negatively impact the experience a bit.

Potentially great

All in all, Elegy of Fate:Prologue has a lot going for it, from its large explorable world to its engaging combat and surprisingly challenging puzzles. However, all of that has been negatively impacted by the game's poor UI design and game balance. Hopefully, these things will be addressed before the release of the full game to offer a much better gaming experience.
